Port Lympne 06.09.16

Had a lovely day at Port Lympne zoo the other day, although it is rather frustrating photographically, with large natural enclosures many animals are not showing well enough to get decent shots of, it is times like these that you have to accept the limitations of your kit and remember that there's always next time!.

Bongo eyes....

The zoo has a large variety of primates, from Pygmy Marmosets to Western lowland Gorillas....here are just a selection.....

Western Lowland Gorilla
Drill with baby
De Brazzas Monkey (my favourite primate!)

There are also two large open areas, the Asian and African experiences, these are safari style trailer rides, absolutely awful for photography as they are very bumpy and almost constantly moving......

African experience....Red Lechwe
Asian experience....Swamp deer
Asian experience.......Water buffalo

The African experience also had some Waterbuck, but fortunately they also have an enclosure of their own....

male Waterbuck

The other thing that the park is famous for is its collection of cats, from the smallest (Rusty-spotted) to the largest (Amur Tiger), the Rusty-spotteds hardly ever show, we did see them but not in a position to photograph, but here are a selection of the others to finish with....

Cheetah
Pallas Cat making a rare appearance
Carpathian Lynx...tell me how this is comfortable!
Margay in a very dark enclosure
Arty black and white Amur Tiger shot!
Scottish wildcat...genetically pure wildcats are probably the rarest feline
